| Fine Gilson laboratory created opal
arrowhead, knapped by Jim Hooper. This is as good as it gets. Lot Gilson-1.
Price $265, Shipping $5. Insurance $4.30 |
Gilson Opal Dagger by Jim Hooper. The pictures
show the variation in play of color in the opal with different lighting.
Absolutely fantastic. Lot Gilson -2 Price-$325. Shipping $5. Insurance $5.30 |
| Gilson opal is created in a laboratory. It is the
exact same chemical formula as natural opal, except it has no entrapped
water. This makes the Gilson opal "better" than natural opal. Lacking water,
the opal no sensitivity to heat or cold. This is a good thing.
Gilson is no longer being made, so each piece becomes
more valuable as the stock of Gilson rough uncut opal shrinks. |
